CCS RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS
I. Training and Education to include ( A TOTAL OF 24 HOURS ): · 4.0 hrs - Forum on Clinical Supervision (CCS Tips & Updates) within the 4 years prior to your expiration date Presented by members of the Certification Board, the Forum (also known as CCS Tips & Updates) is a requirement for CCS renewal. The Certification Board is looking to the CCS to assist and supervise individuals in the certification/recertification process to ensure continued growth and up-to-date counseling experience. Clinical supervision by a GACA-certified CCS is mandatory for new CACI and CACII counselors and for renewal for CACI counselors. CCS networking and interaction through the Forum/CCS Tips & Updates encourages consistent services for all CCS-credentialed professionals and has proven positive for both supervisors and certification candidates. The Forum on Clinical Supervision/CCS Tips & Updates is presented four times a year in Metro Atlanta, Middle Georgia and during the Spring (south) and Fall (north) conferences, usually In late January, April, July and October. Watch the website at www.gaca.org for registration announcements. Registration flyers will also be mailed directly to all CCS’s, and will be included in the Professional Update newsletter.. The next CCS TIPS & UPDATES (Forum on Clinical Supervision) will be held April 26, 2012 during the Spring conference at Jekyll Island. PLUS · 20.0 hr - Educational training (in-classroom, online, home study) within the 4 years prior to your expiration date Must be SPECIFIC TO CLINICAL SUPERVISION in subjects as it relates to enhancing your skills as a clinical supervisor. Training such as HIV/AIDS, non-specific ethics or cultural diversity, financial management of a treatment program, for example, are not acceptable to fulfill the educational requirement for this specialty certification. The Forum on Clinical Supervision attended multiple times can only be counted once during the four year period.
II. Supervision - Document a minimum of 24 hrs supervision you provided to at least one counselor within the 4 year period The role of the CCS is critical and availability of a CCS to provide supervision to new counselors seeking certification and CACI counselors seeking recertification is extremely important for the integrity of the certification process. NOTE: Clinical supervision hours provided to individuals by a CCS holding an expired CCS certificate will not be honored toward the individual’s certification or certificate renewal. If your CCS certificate is based on a CACII certificate, the certificate must remain current for your CCS to be valid and renewable. If your CCS is based on licensure, i.e., LPC, LCSW, LMFT, PhD, or MD, a copy of your current licensure is required with your application. Thank you for assisting us to uphold the integrity of certification for addiction counselors and clinical supervisors.
